About the Artist

Émilie Géant is a French artist who studied art and illustration at the Emile Cohl School in Lyon.

In 2006, she won an award for her paintings in the “Les Tremplins de la Création” competition, following which she embarked on a long journey through New Zealand, filling notebooks with drawings and paintings along the way.

Back in France, she published La Terre du Long Nuage Blanc; Carnet de Voyage en Nouvelle-Zélande, an illustrated travelogue about her experiences and her discovery of Kiwi culture. A few years later, she collaborated on a publication for French youth, allowing her to share her love of New Zealand.

It soon became clear that she could not stay away from this country for long and in 2012, Emilie moved to Auckland, then Palmerston North with her young family. Inspired by her new life, she keeps busy, always embarking on new artistic projects.

More information about Émilie’s artworks can be found on her website.
