Internship Form for Alliance Francaise Palmerston North, New Zealand

Full-time internship

Location: Palmerston North, New Zealand

Duration: 4-5 months from May-September 2026

Number of Hours: 40 hrs/week of which approximately 10 to 15 hours of FLE teaching

Remuneration: none

Agreement: yes

Desired diploma: MASTER 2 FLE or cultural management in progress

Skills required:
This internship may be suitable for a student in Master 1 or 2 of FLE teaching and/or cultural management wishing to direct their professional career towards positions overseas.
B2 level in English is required since the intern will be required to communicate in English outside of class.
The BAFA is a plus.
The agreement will be signed between the university and the Alliance Française; valid passport required.

Internship description and missions:

Main missions:
1) Teaching: French as a foreign language course (10 to 15 hours per week)
2) Administration: welcome/reception/registration
3) Cultural: running a book club, playgroups,  cinema club, evening functions at the Alliance
4) Communication: newsletter /posters/marketing/social media
5) Website: maintenance and updating information

Secondary missions:
1) Support for  cultural events
2) Support for  media library
3) DELF/DALF exams

The Alliance Française de Palmerston North is a small alliance in full development. Our audience is made up of both children and adults. The FLE intern at Alliance Française will have the opportunity to teach children, teenagers and adults. Classes for children represent a booming offer, so it is essential that the intern demonstrates a certain liking and real teaching skills for this age group (the youngest children are 18 months old) in order to make the classes dynamic and fun.

This versatile position will allow the intern to discover the different roles offered by an Alliance Française. We expect professionalism, punctuality, dynamism, creativity, team spirit and enthusiasm from the intern.
