Les hommes de l'ombre saison 2
The men in the shadow struggle for power
It is a year since Anne Visage lost the presidential elections, and the current President Alain Marjorie faces two disasters: one personal and one political.
His delicate and unpredictable wife , Elisabeth, has a car accident. The passenger, her lover, is killed instantly. Benoit Hussan, the Prime Minister and a friend of the couple covers up the accident, but he is then himself caught up in a political and financial scandal. Hussan has to resign.
We now have a political crisis and the President Marjorie calls on the services of Simon Kapita, man in the shadows from the first season. Kapita has not only to deal with the media but also to divert the manoeuvers by the Opposition to destabilize the government. His sense of strategy and communication are put to the test, especially as a new scandal threatens to erupt.
Les hommes de l'ombre saison 1
The President is dead. Enter the shadow men.
The French President has been assassinated, sparking a tense campaign to elect a new leader. With the election only 25 days away a war begins between the country's top communications strategists.
Welcome to politics in the 21st century.
Presidential advisor Simon Kapita wants to preserve the honour of his assassinated mentor and backs a low-level minister, Anne Visage, believing her to be the only one capable of defeating their political enemy, Prime Minister Philippe Deleuvre.
Meanwhile, Simon's protégé, Ludovic Desmeuzes, has defected to the PM's campaign. Between these two heirs to the President's legacy, a fratricidal war is about to begin.
Les hommes de l'ombre saison 3
The men in the shadow struggle for power
Six months before the Presidential elections, the leader of the extreme right party who is ahead in the opinion polls, is assassinated before the eyes of Simon Kapita, President Marjorie's closest advisor.
This attack creates disruption in the political spectrum and presages a bloody race for the Elysée.
Throughout the final months of his Presidency, both right and left wing parties are involved in political manoeuvring, backstabbing and betrayals, while in his private life, his relationship with Elisabeth is tearing apart and becomes the target of the tabloids. For Simon Kapita, this last campaign becomes the one of all dangers.

Nous finirons ensemble
We'll end up together
Writer/Director Guillaume Canet reunites the entire cast from his smash hit Little White Lies for this highly anticioated follow up. It's been years since middle-aged restaurateur Max has received his friends at his gorgeous summer house in the chic beach community of Cap Ferret. We'll End Up Together is a storyof long-term bonds and the joy of friendship, but also of suppressed emotions, personal and professional resentments, and the many ways having children can both fracture and cement social circles. It's rollicking, all-star fun!
Un village françias Volume 1
During the Second World War, a small town in France is under occupation. The community has to live in a world where patterns are disrupted, a world of fear and danger. Friends will be pitted against each other when they least expect it. It's impossible to imagine what it was like to live in a situation where a deep sense of mistrust is suddenly everywhere in your life - at school, at the shops, in the town hall. This is the first long form attempt to tell the tale of the Vichy Regime that so divided the French during WW2.
The occupation will last several years during which the viewers share the fate of these characters, their secrets and their ability to live most difficult situations. The series evolves as we move into the heart of WW2. Each season is a year, so as the war gets more intense, the drama gets more intense. There really is no TV series like Un village français.
Un village français volume 2
It's 1941, the war on the Russian front is expanding, and the Germans are less patient than they were last year. There is real pressure on to expose the French Resistance, and the local group plan some assassinations in Villeneuve. But in the planning, Marcel's new girlfriend is captured, and Marcel is involved in an unplanned murder of a German officer. Tensions ratchet up.
Hortense is involved in a steamy affair with the local German commander. Lucienne has become pregnant to a German soldier. The tensions and the passions in the village are on the rise, and still, the villagers sense of trust in each other is being challenged by the dreadful occupation. It's gripping drama all the way.
Un village français volume 3
It's 1942 and Villeneuve is now in its third year of Nazi occupation. A carriage of Jewish prisoners is brought to the village, all needing to be housed and fed, increasing tensions as it becomes clearer and clearer to the villagers exactly what the occupying Vichy forces are capable of.
Those resisting the Nazis grow more daring by the day but when a mysterious radio operator is parachuted into the village to assist the resistance, relationships are strained further. Inspector Marchetti has relationship problems of his own as he falls for one of the Jewish prisoners and considers risking his own life to save her.
As we have come to expect from this brilliant French series, nothing is ever quite as it seems - loyalties are constantly tested, allegiances shift, characters disappear and reappear. And all the the while, the residents of Villeneuve must try to predict the Germans' next move in order to stay alive.

Un village français volume 4
Summer 1943.
The announcement of the STO, an order for all young men to be taken into forced labour, shakes France to its core.
In Villeneuve, Antoine and Claude avoid capture and flee with a small band of others, with the hope of living in freedom in the forest. However the hunger, cold and boredom of life on the run soon prove overwhelming.
The new mayor works tirelessly to support the STO and hunt the guerillas, and though the Resistance grow bolder and bolder, the villagers seem to lose more of their liberty everyday.
But in the forest, a simple play performed by the runaways to quell their boredom sets in motion a series of events that will radically change the fate of the village.
Un village français volume 5
And so, to the year 1944. The Liberation begins, but chaos ensues. The Germans are leaving Villeneuve, but not without heavy doses of revenge and violence. And what of the Vichy members and the Resistance fighters in the region? Which side will they choose?
In Season 5, characters begin to return to the village, and discover life has changed forever. It's hard to imagine, but the moral compromises characters are forced to make become deeper and deeper as the war nears its end. Some astonishing role reversals occur in this season, and we'll not be revealing anymore on this backcover. It's not the place!
Un village français volume 6
Autumn 1945. And so, after years of war, the peace has arrived, and with it comes the commissions and the public hearings that will attribute blame, and mete out punishments. The social divisions that damaged Villeneuve so very much are brought to the surface.
Daniel Larcher and Servier are first in the dock. And out in the village, people jockey for positions in the new order. We will see characters who disappeared during the war return, we will see characters making deals to avoid execution. The war may be over, but the struggle for dignity continues.
Un village français volume 7
1945 - The war is officially over, but the characters that we have followed through the series are far from clear of the horrors, and the long-term effects of the war. In this final volume, the viewer is shuttled into flash-backs and flash-forward sequences, but fear not. The dramatic process is clever, and smoothly undertaken.
So many of the decisions that were made on the spot during occupation will resonate down through the years in ways characters could never have imagined. Some will be resolved happily, others will not. A fitting finale to an extraordinarily and quite unique television series. The most excellent feeling upon viewing Volume 7, is that the viewer may well like to go back, when time permits, and enjoy the whole journey again.
