The Alliance Française Palmerston North is proud to present Franck Monnet, a French singer/songwriter/composer who has made Kapiti
Coast his home since 2009.
Franck will offer us a free performance of his poetic songs
(old and new) laced with beautiful pop rock melodies at the Globe Theatre.
A concert not to be missed on Saturday 10 June at 7 pm.
Franck Monnet is a French singer/songwriter/composer. He composed his first song (in English) at the age of 14. His first composition in French was made a few years later. At the age of 30, he signed his first contract with WEA and in 1998, he released his first album Playa.
In 2000, he was awarded the Grand Prix de l’Académie Charles Cros for his second album Les Embellies.
He wrote songs for several famous artists: Vanessa Paradis (collaboration with Matthieu Chedid for the albums Bliss (2000) and Divinidylle (2007)), Tryo (2003), Murray Head (2006), Claire Diterzi (2005), Enrico Macias (2006), Emily Loizeau (with whom he produced the album L'autre bout du monde in 2005), Vincent Delerm...
He composed the soundtrack for the movie Mer belle à agiter by director Pascal Chaumeil which was produced by France 3 in 2004. In the same year, he was nominated for the Prix Constantin for his third album Au Grand Jour.
There followed more albums (see discography below) and other contracts, as well as performances in famous French festivals such as Les Francopholies de La Rochelle ou Le Printemps de Bourges.
Franck was also part of the jury of several festivals: Chorus des Hauts-de-Seine's Song Contest (2003), Créteil International Women's
Film Festival (2008), Wellington Song Contest, with Dame Jane Pierard (2011), Randell Cottage Residency (2022).
