Welcome to the Alliance Française of Palmerston North
Mission The mission of the Alliance Française is to encourage the study of French language and culture, to foster cultural, intellectual, artistic and friendly exchanges between the French-speaking world and our local community, and to support the local refugee and migrant population.
Background The Alliance Française is a worldwide non-profit, welfare, cultural and educational center founded in Paris in 1883. The Alliance Française offers and supports continued learning both in and out of the classroom. Currently, the Alliance Française offers a variety of cultural and social events to its members, as well as to the general public. Events throughout the year include: lectures, art exhibits, film series, wine tastings, traditional celebrations and cooking classes. The Alliance Française makes learning French convenient by offering daytime, evening + weekend classes. All classes are taught by experienced native French-speaking teachers. Assistance, such as literacy and numeracy classes, are provided to refugees and migrants. Supplementary resources are also available, as the Alliance Française is home to over 8,000 books, films and audio materials to aid in the learning process both linguistically and culturally.
